About

casalvia

Casa — home. Salvia — sage. Ca — house of.

Three syllables. Three meanings. One place.

In Valencian, ca means "house of." In Spanish, casa is home. And salvia — sage — is the resilient herb that thrives in the limestone cracks of the Aitana, requiring little and giving much. Casalvia holds all three: a house of sage, a home rooted in the mountain, a name that carries the quiet languages of the valley.

When we found our 1950s building, the parallel was immediate. Like the wild sage of the valley, the building had good bones and a resilient spirit — weathered, unhurried, still standing. We chose casalvia to mark the transition: from a historic house to a living sanctuary. A place where the grit of the mountain path meets the wisdom of restorative rest.

A sage home, in every sense of the word.

Two paths. One vision.

Casalvia is brought to life by two people who chose a village not as investors, but as neighbors. We strive to live and work within the rhythms of the village — and that is the whole point.

Experience & Strategy

One half has spent twenty years at the heart of the hospitality industry, helping lead a disruptive Dutch-born brand from its second location to a worldwide presence across four continents. His work focuses on how digital precision can enhance, rather than replace, the human touch—removing the friction of travel to let the physical experience shine. He is now reviving a childhood dream: creating an intimate sanctuary where he also resides. Born in Brazil with roots in Italy and Spain, and having spent nearly two decades in Amsterdam, his philosophy is built on precision, anticipation, and the quiet care of the details that define a truly seamless stay.

He is the architect of the Casalvia experience.

Aesthetics & Space

The other half is the founder of Studio Hermanides — an interior architecture practice rooted in the philosophy of "timeless eclecticism." He believes that a well-designed space should be measured by how it feels, rather than just how it looks. Moving away from the sterile perfection of a magazine set, he creates environments that are layered, storied, and profoundly lived-in. His approach treats architectural heritage as a foundation for a rich mix of textures and modern features, evolving the character of a space into an atmospheric retreat.

For him, design is an intuitive conversation between history and the present, transcending trends to create lasting comfort. He ensures every room tells a story, making him the curator of the casalvia soul.

The two met in Amsterdam more than ten years ago. What started as a shared life became, in time, a shared vision. casalvia is where their paths converge.

Travel as a regenerative force.

We are not here to open a hotel. We are here to prove that travel, done with intention, can give back — to guests, to the village, and to the land itself. By rehabilitating a historic building and welcoming a slower kind of tourism, we aim to contribute something real to the community: employment, visibility, and a reason for the next generation to stay.

I

Conscious Curation

We don't just decorate — we preserve. Every material, from local stone to furniture and textiles, is chosen with respect for the past and responsibility for the future.

II

The Spirit of the Ascent

True luxury lives in the balance of effort and ease. The climb, the ride, the trail — and then the rest that makes it meaningful. casalvia is built for both.

III

Radical Sanctuary

In an era of constant noise and over-tourism, we offer something rarer: genuine quiet. The privacy of our guests and the tranquility of our neighbors come first.

IV

Meaningful Connection

We are a bridge — between international travelers and local artisans, between remote work and the natural world, between a Spanish village and the wider community that loves it.
